Tulelake Migratory Bird Festival
The Tulelake Migratory Bird Festival takes place each year on the third Saturday in May. A variety of activities are available - all free of charge. For example:
Airboat Rides. According to Refuge Manager, Ron Cole, viewing Tule Lake Marsh "from the inside out" offers visitors a whole new feeling for the marsh. As part of the festival, the Klamath Basin Refuges host free airboat tours of the marsh for the public. Refuge volunteers conducting the tours, will explain the use of airboats to manage Refuge habitats to benefit wildlife. All events will be held at the Tule Lake Refuge Visitor Center located 5 miles west of Tulelake, California, at 4009 Hill Road.
Guided tours of Lower Klamath Refuge, Tule Lake Refuge and a raptor identification tour. Transportation is provided for all tours and advanced reservations are required. Call: (530) 667-2231. Guided walks to Discovery Marsh across from refuge headquarters are offered every half hour.
