Location:

Southwest of Klamath Falls, near Keno, Oregon

Habitat:

Forested.

Distinct Features:

The road is used primarily for dispersed local traffic. It offers beautiful vistas of Bear Valley.

Birds to Look For:

Mountain Quail, Blue Grouse, several sapsucker and woodpecker species, Dusky Flycatcher, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Orange-crowned Warbler, Oregon Junco, Mountain Chickadee, Pygmy Nuthatch, Bushtit, Swainson's Thrush, Orange-crowned and Nashville Warblers, Clark's Nutcracker, Steller's Jay, White-headed Woodpecker, and Northern Goshawk.

Directions:

From Klamath Falls, travel south on Highway 97 to the Highway 66 exit. Proceed west for approximately 14 miles to the town of Keno. Just west of Keno, look for Hamaker Road, turn left. Hamaker Road passes through a series of forest habitat zones providing for a rich bird viewing experience. GPS: 121° 58' 47.51" W, 42° 4' 24.03" N.
